Generation Nation hosts Civic Leadership Breakfast
What an inspiring morning at the Generation Nation Civic Leadership Breakfast! We were honored to hear from incredible leaders and celebrate the next generation of changemakers.
A huge thank you to our powerful speakers:
Nate Hogan, President of the CLT Alliance Foundation, who reminded us, "Leaders don't run away from problems. You run towards them."
Betsy Mack of the Charlotte Hornets, who spoke on empowering students: "we're not just inviting you to the table, we're helping you to create your own table."
Kobi Brinson, Partner at Winston & Strawn, who delivered a powerful message: "We have to normalize not apologizing for standing up when others are sitting down in the face of inequity, discrimination, and a complete breakdown of civility."
We were also moved by the wisdom of our student leaders April Alonso, Samuel Gwin, and Morgan Winston, who are already making a huge impact on our community.
Congratulations to our 2025 Civic Leadership Award winners!
Latonda Mitchell: K–12 Educator of the Year
Charles Jeter: Civic Leader of the Year
Ailen De Bonis, Katie Eilers, and Zahara Mushinge: Civic Leadership Award
Chase Howard: All-Star 4-Year Leader
This ceremony was a powerful reminder of the importance of investing in our youth. As Generation Nation alumnus and Board Vice Chair Righteous Keitt said, "You cannot be what you cannot see." Let's continue to provide opportunities for our students to see and become the leaders of tomorrow.
